A gift-art for my friend Liv.
It's a Celtic style Doon (dog spoon) carved out of boxwood. The wood was about 35 years old, and it's been seasoning (in my kitchen) for about 3 years. It's waxed with beeswax. I have no idea why I made it a pistol grip style, but it's very comfy to hold.
Size: 170mm long, 32mm across the bowl.
Total time taken: 6.5 hours (some blood, some sweat, no tears).
Tools:
1) Saws - Bahco Laplander folding saw, Bahco coping saw, Spear and Jackson hardpoint saw.
2) Wetterligns large hunting axe.
3) Karesuando hunter knife (3" model).
4) Henry Taylor carving chisels.
5) Mora double sided crook knife.
6) Sand paper - 80 grit and 150 grit.
7) PPE - dust mask and safety glasses.
